Police Seek Suspect in Shots Fired Incident at Arthaus Apartments

Ithaca Police Officers responded for a report of shots fired at the Ithaca Arthaus apartments on Cherry Street at Midnight, Wednesday the 21st of February.

Police dispatch audio described reports from multiple callers of gunfire on the 5th floor of the building.

Officers located an apartment door that had been damaged as a result of gunfire. Additionally, evidence was discovered further confirming shots were fired into the apartment.

The apartment was unoccupied at the time of the shooting, and no injuries were reported.

Responding officers reviewed security footage from the building and recovered a coat discarded by the suspect nearby.

It is not known how the suspect gained entry into the Arthaus. A broken door in the parking garage allows access to the stairwell. Ithaca Crime first documented this broken door in a story written more than a month ago.

Arthaus management are aware of Ithaca Crime’s article. Despite this, building management have yet to repair the door. Anyone can walk into the building off the street.

Members of the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
