IPD Investigating Another Nighttime Commons Assault

An Ithaca Police Department press release describes a mob assault that occurred on the Ithaca Commons in the early hours of Monday morning, November 14th, 2021.

Per IPD press release, “The Ithaca Police Department is investigating an assault that occurred on 11/14/21 at 01:30 am on the Ithaca Commons around the area of Center Ithaca. Two males were walking on the Ithaca Commons when they were engaged by a separate group of approximately six males. The group of six male suspects reportedly, without provocation, punched and kicked the two male victims before fleeing from the area on foot. The victims sustained various level of injury and were treated at a local hospital. None of the injures are life threatening. The victims and suspects are not known to one another, and this appears to be a random act. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.”

The press release states that the assault was recorded by various surveillance cameras on the Commons and attached images of the group responsible for the assault.

A similar nighttime assault occurred on the Ithaca Commons two weeks ago. Surveillance video also captured that attack but no images or video have been released.
