A burglary at Botanist Coffeehouse & Floristry was reported on Saturday morning, November 11th.

UPDATE: Ring video footage of the break-in has been released. It shows a pantsless African-American male armed with a machete and hammer.
The break-in is the latest in a rash of commercial burglaries, including a similar break-in & theft at the Women’s Opportunity Center’s Mary Durham Boutique. The Botanist is located deep in Ithaca’s Fall Creek neighborhood.

Hats on display from a neighboring business were reported to be stolen. A half eaten, uncooked cinnamon roll was found discarded by the suspects.
An interior door damaged by a blunt object was visible outside the coffee house. It is unclear how the building was breached.

A damaged interior door was seen leaning against the building by the bike racks.

The interior door that was damaged is visible in the background of this photograph.

Sawdust from repair work was visible on the pavement in the parking lot.

A note on the door of the Botanist indicated the business would reopen Monday.

Graffiti adorns the rear of the building that hosts Botanist Coffeehouse.

The rear door of the building is also covered in graffiti.

A path runs parallel to Fall Creek behind the building.

CORRECTION: A person familiar with the scene tells Ithaca Crime that no cash box was stolen, and the inner door was not breached. A pervious version of this article stated a cash box was reported stolen, and that the inner door had been breached.
