Burglar Arrested & Released Twice In One Night

Ithaca, NY – Early morning on February 8, 2023, Ithaca Police were called to a report of a suspect trying to break into a home in the 600 block of W Buffalo Street. The resident provided a clear description of the suspect, allowing officers to quickly detain an individual matching the description. The victim was able to identify the suspect, who was arrested for trespassing and released on an appearance ticket.

Later in the morning, starting at 4:50 AM, multiple residents in various locations in the city reported a subject breaking into their homes. The calls were received from the 300 block of N Plain St. to the 200 block of Stewart Ave. The descriptions matched the individual arrested earlier for trespassing. Officers located the suspect, who was again positively identified, arrested and released on an appearance ticket.

The identity of the suspect is being withheld at this time as investigations are ongoing.

The Ithaca Police Department reminds residents to lock their doors and windows to prevent crimes of opportunity.
