Per an IPD press release, “On 11/16/21 at approximately 7:30 PM IPD Patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 300 block of Elmira Rd. During the course of this stop a loaded .22 cal. Pistol was recovered. Devarkis Brooks, a 27 year old male from Horseheads, and Raheem Daniel, 22 year old male from Elmira were both charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree. Devarkis Brooks was on parole for a previous CPW charge at the time of arrest.
They were arraigned in Ithaca City Court by Judge Wallace and remanded to Tompkins County Jail on $5,000 / $10,000 bail.”
Brooks has arrests from both 2016 and 2019 relating to illegal firearms. Officers reported finding a loaded 9 mm pistol in his left pants pocket during his 2016 arrest. Brooks was on parole for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd when he was arrested by IPD on 11/16/21. Brooks also has an arrest from 2018 for aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation, and following too closely.
